Website Design for a Local Farm
Background
A local hobby farm reached out for support in designing a website from scratch. The farm specializes in raising Shetland sheep for small-scale meat and wool production, while also sharing their journey with friends, visitors, and supporters who are invested in their move to countryside living. The website aims to serve as a hub for staying connected, sharing their story, and gradually expanding the farm’s online presence as their business grows. With this direction in mind, I began the design process. Sheep Focus
One key insight from user research was the importance of highlighting the sheep themselves. The sheep owner has created individual profiles for each sheep and is passionate about keeping site visitors updated on them. From a design perspective, this functions similarly to a “Meet the Team” section; adding personality, building emotional connection, and giving the website a memorable charm that reflects the heart of the farm.
